How to Connect Your Smartphone to Your ConnectedRide Cradle

Learn in this video, how to connect the optional ConnectedRide Cradle to your smartphone and use valuable functions of the BMW Motorrad Connected App. Make sure you have installed the BMW Motorrad Connected App. Open the BMW Motorrad Connected App, click on “Connectivity Hub”, then “Connect New Device”. Select your Cradle – and “Connect”. A confirmation that the connection is established is displayed. Insert your smartphone with the long side touching the top of the ConnectedRide cradle. Make sure the arms hold the smartphone into place. The cradle supports wireless charging via the QI standard. Charging via cable is possible as well. Press and hold the MENU Rocker Switch up to switch the control from the TFT Display to the BMW Motorrad Connected App. Controlling the Connected App works similar to controlling the TFT Display. Turn the Multi Controller to navigate through the menu. Tilt the Multi Controller right to select an app feature – like navigation or to zoom in the map. Tilting right in map view, you can access navigation features like entering a destination. Standing still, you can use your smartphone via touch as well, for example to enter an address.

  1. Nope, the ConnectedRide Device sees and connects to my phone but the app never does. Tried it over and over. The largest problem with the "Connected Ride" Device is ironically, it doesn't connect, not to computers, not to apps. Been fighting with it for weeks to get a route into it… and I'm kind of a nerd. Can't use the SD card because my EU maps are in there.

  2. I am stuck where it says press menu button for 2 seconds, my bike does not have the menu button? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have a 2014 R1200GS Adventure with nav prep. Better instructions would be beneficial as the is barely any information available for older motorcycles without tft. I paid a lot of money and really would like to be able to use the cradle!

  3. This will work with new and older bike models that have the wonder wheel and also the NAV prep. The original NAV prep is necessary to power/charge and control your phone from the wonder wheel. The new mount has built in Bluetooth to connect with your apple or android phone, turning it into a virtual BMW Navigator. fools the bike into thinking the original BMW Garmin GPS is installed. You pair your phone to the new mount, start the BMW app on your phone, then use the wonder wheel on the bars just like you would with the old BMW Garmin nav unit. I suspect BMW is moving away from the Garmin device in favor of GPS integration on the new models, and this was designed so legacy users had something to fall back on when they cant procure the Garmin made device.
