A pure racer with great courage. His way of racing was simple, going as fast as he could from the first to the last lap, dominating all the races he could and in fact in his only world championship won in 1992 he annihilated all his opponents with 14 pole positions out of 16 races, 9 victories , 3 second places and 4 retirements, almost doubling his teammate Patrese in the final ranking. Perhaps this is why he won little and collected three second places in the world championship, in a period in which cars broke down extremely easily. For example, in 1988 with Williams he only saw the chequered flag twice with two second places and retired in all the other races of the championship (he did not participate in two due to chickenpox). In 1989 with Ferrari he collected 7 retirements and 2 disqualifications plus an additional disqualification served in the Spanish Grand Prix for having ignored the black flag on the Estoril circuit for several laps until he hit Ayrton Senna and forced him to retire while he was in second position. But this competitive ferocity is also the reason why he was and still is so admired and respected and is still remembered today as the warrior of Formula One. Furthermore, he has always been and still is a sincere, simple, direct and honest man, like a nice neighbor who was however a world champion in the highest category of motorsport.

Nigel ha vinto meno di Prost in Ferrari ma emozionava di più, nel bene e nel male (Estoril '90). Thank you Nigel…
